Are Smoothies Really Healthy? According To A Sugar Expert

Robert Lustig, a sugar expert and professor of both pediatrics and endocrinology, explains the problem with fruit smoothies. Fruits are composed of two types of fibers” soluble and insoluble. Both are beneficial to your health, particularly the health of your liver. But when the fruit is ground up in a smoothie, you lose the benefits of those insoluble fibers. So it makes more sense to just eat the fruit as is, rather than turning it into a smoothie.
